2005 Battle of Bibb Furnace

Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park is proud to announce that the Battle of Bibb Furnace will be held September 17th – 18th, 2005, at the site of the Confederate furnace that provided the iron for the Selma Arsenal.

The camps will be open to the public at 9:AM, and the battle re-enactment will be at 2:PM on Saturday and Sunday.  There will be a period ball Saturday evening at 7:PM.  Also, there will be plenty of food and period shopping.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and kids under 6 are free.

All profits will benefit the stabilization and preservation of the furnace at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park, the only ironworks actually owned by the Confederate States of America.

 


 

 

Brierfield is located off Interstate 65 on Alabama Highway 25. From Birmingham take I-65 South or from Montgomery take I-65 North to Alabama Highway 25 exit. Go South on Hwy 25 approximately 15 miles. Park entrance is on the left. From Tuscaloosa take US Highway 82 to Centreville; at Centreville turn left onto Alabama Highway 25 towards Montevallo. Park is approximately 12 miles from Centreville.
